Forty-year-old gamer Griffith Marsh wasn’t looking for adventure, just a night in playing games. Instead, he gets magically abducted by the drunk, chaotic Oracles of the Jackal during a summoning ritual gone spectacularly wrong.

To make him “more aesthetic,” Bessy the Chronomancer promptly rewinds his age by twenty years. Later, when an Adventuring Union rep examines him, he declares Griffith a Level 4 Admin, along with a mysterious Level 1 Class no one has ever seen before: Scavenger.

Heroic destiny? Not so much.

Griffith becomes the Oracles’ intern, running coffee, sweeping up after Elementalist Dottie’s explosive experiments, cleaning Shadow Mage Genevieve’s rogue shadow puddles, and keeping the guild from melting down. Things only get weirder when during some light magical training Griffith summons Hamilton—a four-foot-tall, impeccably dressed imp from the Plane of Flowers with impeccable manners, impeccable insults, and a past he refuses to talk about.

But everything changes on a simple trip to the forest, when Griffith and Dottie are ambushed by a mage hunter. Forced to fight for his life, Griffith kills in self-defense, and his strange Scavenger class awakens. He inherits the fallen hunter’s ability, gaining the skill Sword Spell Counter, and with it, a terrifying new path.

Now Griffith is unwillingly thrust into the adventuring life—training in swordplay, accepting real quests, and discovering that his bizarre class grants him unpredictable powers stolen from defeated foes.
